Active Medicare Solutions in Henrico County usually serves a clientele of 65 and older, but they’re catering to them in a different way. Rasmusson and his staff have been packing bags with surgical masks this week. He and a friend were able to order 8,000 masks through their businesses.

It was a different sort of business Active Medicare Solutions was running this weekend; rather than dealing with insurance plans, staff of the medical insurance agency were handing out face masks. The event was supposed to start at 10am on Saturday, but Rasmusson says people were already waiting hours earlier when he and staff arrived at 8:00 a.m.

A Henrico business with a surplus of surgical disposable masks is giving them away to seniors this weekend. Craig Rasmusson, the founder of Active Medicare Solutions, said he has already supplied masks to first responders and hospitals, so he wants to offer the overflow to seniors.

A West End insurance company distributed more than 1,000 free masks to help ease the minds of senior citizens Saturday. "We are a Medicare insurance agency, so we really dedicate every day to our seniors in this community," Rasmusson said. One by one seniors pulled up to get a mask or two Saturday morning.
